【For Students】 Shortening the observation period for close contacts

January 31, 2022

Dear Students:

Risk Management Headquarters
(for COVID-19 Infection Control)
University of the Ryukyus

In the notice from the University on January 20 “About the idea of the observation period of close contacts”, we announced that all close contacts are requested to stay home for 10 days and the observation period will end on the 11th day.  The Okinawa Prefectural Government has shortened the period of staying home as follows.

Seven days of staying home (refraining from going out) and the observation period will be lifted on the eighth day.

Note: Until 10 days have passed, please take further prevention measure against infection, such as checking your health condition by taking your temperature, avoiding going to places with high risk of infection and dining with other people.

In Okinawa Prefecture, in order to encourage people who are in close contact with an infected person to take preventive measures immediately such as refraining from going out, a system has been applied in which a new positive person directly informs those in close contacts.  If you are in close contacts, please refer to “What to do if you think you may have become infected with COVID-19?”, available on the special website for COVID-19 of the Okinawa Prefectural Government website.
