Notice from the University regarding restrictions on activities (April 30. 2020)

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff Members,

As regards the measures of restrictions on activities on campus (except the University Hospital), the University made an announcement on April 22, 2020.  In order to secure health and safety for students, faculty and staff members of our university, as well as to prevent from spreading New Coronavirus Infection in Okinawa, we, as the university that contributes to the local community, would like to extend the period for the measure of restrictions on activities on campus (except the University Hospital) for the time being.
The extension period will be officially announced later.
For students’ convenience, R’s Kitchen (Co-op North Cafeteria) will be open from 11:00AM to 2:30 PM on weekdays for selling bread, box lunches and so on.  The store will offer services in order to provide students with food.  It should be noted that students will not be allowed to enter the campus and enter any building except R’s Kitchen for any reason other than purchasing food.

1. Period: May 7 (Thu.), 2020 ~ for the time being
(The extension period will be announced as soon as it is decided.)

2. Contents of Restrictions:
  Entering the campus: Prohibited
  ※Faculty members are allowed to enter the campus for online lectures, maintenance of equipment, keeping living organisms and so on, if only unavoidable to do so.
 ※For students, R’s Kitchen (Co-op North Cafeteria) will be open from 11:00AM to 2:30 PM on weekdays for selling bread, box lunches and so on.  Students will not be allowed to enter the campus and enter any building except R’s Kitchen for any reason other than purchasing food.

Lectures and Practical Classes: Only online lectures can be provided.
 ※Students must attend lectures at home and are not allowed to do so on campus. However, for those who are unable to attend lectures online, educational support (such as sending educational materials) will be provided separately.

 Research Activities: Suspended
※Only those laboratory staffs below (including graduate students and researchers, depending on the circumstances) are allowed to enter the laboratories and others must work from home. However, ① and ② must be finished as quickly as possible. In order to ensure safety, avoid working alone.
① Laboratory staffs who are implementing continuous experiments, etc. and leaving the experiment cause great damage to the completion of the research in concern
② Laboratory staffs who are involved in finishing or stopping the experiments in progress
③ Laboratory staffs who need to enter the laboratory in order to maintain equipment, keep
living organisms or complete urgent tasks that is not possible to do from home.  In particular, faculties and centers concerned must consider how to correspond to the situations illustrated on (ア)〜(カ)of Section 4-(2)-③ "Regarding the research activities in universities, etc." in the notice "Regarding the Points to be considered when Taking the Measures to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 at Universities, etc." given by the Higher Education Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on April 17, 2020.
