Response to Rapid Spread of COVID-19 Infection in Okinawa

January 7, 2022

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff Members:

Risk Management Headquarters
(for COVID-19 Infection Control)
University of the Ryukyus

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of you for your understanding and cooperation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Since the beginning of this year, the number of people infected has risen rapidly to over 1000 people daily due to the highly infectious Omicron variant.

Because the number of infection and close contacts reported has also increased in our university, we ask you to reduce person-to-person contacts as much as possible and practice infection control to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In response to the above, we will change the level of Restriction on Activities on Campus to “2” on Tuesday, January 11. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
A notice regarding individual matters such as lectures and working system will be given separately by each vice president in charge. (Regarding extracurricular activities, the notice of activities to suspend was already announced on Friday, January 7.)

Please note that changing the level to “2” is a tentative measure and the level of Restriction on Activities on Campus may be raised depending on situations of infection. Please be prepared for such situations.

Because the current situation is unprecedented, we would like to ask you once again to take the same level of prevention measures as those taken during the period of the state of emergency in order to prevent the spread of infection.
