Announcement about Infection of COVID-19 in the University of the Ryukyus (No.7)

On October 21 (Wed.), it was confirmed that members of the University were infected with COVID-19.

The information confirmed and the measures taken by the University are as follows:

・Number of person(s) infected: Two persons
・Status: One staff member and one student
・The Public Health Center in charge is now investigating and making confirmation about movements of the infected persons.
・According to histories of actions of the infected persons, at this point, there is no university member who is considered as a “close contact”.  It is not necessary to implement disinfection in the university facilities.
・It is also confirmed that this case has no relation to the past infection cases occurred in the University.

We sincerely hope that the staff member and student will recover from illness as soon as possible.

Anybody could become one of the infected persons tomorrow.  We would like to ask each one of you for your understanding and consideration for respect for human rights as well as protection of personal information for infected persons and their families.

To date, the University has been taking various measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, in accordance with the government policies and so on.  We would like to continue to make our efforts to prevent the spread of the infection in the University as well as in the local communities.
