The doctoral program (major in medicine) of the Graduate School of Medicine aims to nurture outstanding individuals for the next generation - those who will be able to pave the way for groundbreaking medical research and cutting edge medical technology. The goals of the master’s program (major in medical science) are to accept a wide selection of students in areas closely related to medicine, and groom talented individuals capable of assuming leadership in life sciences, as well as in team medicine that support advanced medical technology.
In order to achieve these objectives, the graduate school has expanded entrance requirements in addition to boosting the entry of a diverse pool of talent by qualitative screening procedures, as well as actively enabling the admission of working adults.

Core pillars of fundamental and clinical research conducted at the Graduate School of Medicine consists of 1. Research in Okinawan health and longevity, 2. Research in diseases of subtropical regions, 3. Research in Okinawan social medicine and epidemiology, and 4. Research in regenerative and reconstructive medicine.
