Announcing the Start of the “Cycle of Water Project”

An intra-disciplinary research project launched by the natural and social sciences divisions of the University of the Ryukyus titled “The Cycle of Water and Life in the Southern Islands” was selected to receive funding under the “Support for Future Co-Creative Innovation for the Promotion of Science Communication” by the Japan Science and Technology Agency. The initiative proposed by the University pledges efforts to sustain and preserve precious water resources in island territories by not only working with researchers, but also collaborating with students, government, NPOs and members of academia, fisheries and agriculture to search for common solutions through mutual dialogue. The initiative plans to hold workshops for officials in water administration, and action-based research involving citizen participation to increase awareness on natural spring water.
