Special Lecture by Sir David Warren, HM Ambassador to Japan

Sir David Warren, British Ambassador to Japan, visited Ryudai and delivered a special lecture on June 27, 2012. After his courtesy call to President Teruo Iwamasa, Sir David gave a lecture under the title of “Japan and Britain” to a capacity audience. The lecture was a part of the lecture series “Introduction to EU Studies” offered by the Department of European Languages and Cultures in the Faculty of Law and Letters. The ambassador talked about the topics “EU and Britain,” “Japan and Britain,” and “Britain Now.”

His visit and lecture were organized by Prof. Till Weber, who is Honorable Consul of Germany in Okinawa, and his colleagues. Sir David Warren was the second special speaker in the series after Mr. Stefan Biedermann, German Deputy Consul General in Osaka in May. In addition to special lecturers, the EU Delegation to Japan in Tokyo kindly supported the course by providing various materials and book.

The participants of the lecture were much impressed by the Ambassador’s speech in fluent Japanese and enjoyed the active exchange of opinions.
