September 2011—Graduation Ceremony for the Graduate School’s Department of Science and Engineering, Special Program for Foreign Students
On September 12, 2011, a graduation ceremony was held on the third floor of the university assembly hall for students in the graduate school’s foreign student special program, department of science and engineering.
In the ceremony, while the students’ advisers, families, and friends watched, each student received a certificate of completion from Dr. Teruo Iwamasa, the university president. After that, President Iwamasa delivered a congratulatory address, Prof. Makoto Yamazato, dean of the science and engineering department, gave an address, and Chau Sam Duong, an intelligent-engineering major, gave the valedictory.
A commendation ceremony for exceptional students was also held. Four students, Mohammad Abu Jafor Bapary from Bangladesh and three other students, received a Presidential Award (Gakucho sho), and three students, Matrika Prasad Koirala from Nepal and two other students, received the Director’s Award (Kenkyukacho sho).
After the ceremony, students took pictures with their families and friends and talked with their professors.
