Summary
Mr. Candland will introduce the business activities, contents, features, and strategies of the global business campaign of Disney, the world’s top company for entertainment and entertainment tourism, as well as the meaning of tourism and entertainment today, for students of the University of the Ryukyus and others who are working in related fields in Okinawa and have a high interest in these topics. He will exchange views about how to approach entertainment tourism in Okinawa from a global point of view and how to form a marketing strategy.
Profile of the Presenter
Mr. Paul Candland was born in Washington D.C. He graduated from Brigham Young University and received an MBA from Penn State University. He first worked in Japan as a representative for Pepsi Cola Japan, and in 1998, he became general manager of Disney Store Japan. In this position, he supervised 80 shops and increased recognition of the Disney brand and made it stronger. In April 2002, he became the managing director of Walt Disney Television International, Japan. He oversaw creation of the Japan Disney Channel, which broadcast hits such as Lost and Desperate Housewives, which helped make overseas TV drama series a huge hit in Japan. As a top Disney executive, he expanded the scope of media in Japan. In June 2007, he became president of Walt Disney Japan, and since April 2009, he has also been the head of broadcast satellite services for Disney.
