The Graduate School of Medicine (doctoral course) consists of two sections: the Medical Science division and the division of Medical Science for Infection Control. The purpose of the Doctoral course is to cultivate specialists who are highly self-motivated and who possess the ability to find medical problems and resolute it in general medical fields and in specified field of infectious disease control. The Master’s course (the Medical Science division) is to cultivate human resource who are able to take up positions in professional practice, or take on leadership roles in the research field of human biosciences and co-medical field.

As an aim for the above purposes, we relaxed entrance requirements for admission to the graduated school, by which students who did not graduate university can enter the graduate school after an examination of the applicants’ qualification. Our graduate school is opened to accept a full-fledged member of society. For promotion of characteristic researches based on natural and geographical features of Okinawa, specialized research course for prevention of infectious disease is established in 2003, and researches for infectious diseases are actively promoted. Additionally, the characteristic researches, such as restoration of health longevity, genetic diseases due to closed island environment, health food sciences based on the diversity of subtropical plants and animals and so on, are actively promoted in our graduate school.
