In 2007 the Graduate School of Engineering and Science initiated a special graduate program for scholarship and non-scholarship international students, predominantly from Asia-Pacific Island countries. With international students in mind, this program starts in October and ends in September. All lectures are conducted in English. The engineering and science courses have their own programs as follows:

• Engineering Course
  <Asia-Pacific Engineering Design Program>
  This program is aimed at graduate students who come mainly from developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The purpose is to foster practical engineers who can think through and solve actual problems in their own countries and under their own unique conditions by promoting a high quality education through four specialized courses in the Master's program and two specialized courses in the Doctoral program.
• Science Course
  <Okinawa International Marine Science Program>
  The Okinawa International Marine Science Program is dedicated to the promotion of high quality education in subtropical marine sciences, such as biological, environmental, physical, chemical and mathematical sciences. This program aims to become a CEO (center of excellence) in the Asia-Pacific region in educational research. It is our hope to contribute to the pool of world-leading scientists.
